Who we are
Experts in the American Council on Women Peace and Security have worked together for many years on critical issues of women’s human dignity. We formed a non-partisan, non-profit 501c3 organization to unite our efforts to inform the bi-partisan implementation of the U.S. Women Peace and Security Act of 2017 and maintain international consensus and support for the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 agenda.
ACWPS protects women and girls in war and crisis, working to deter conflict and secure just and lasting peace. ACWPS advocates for the dignity, liberty, and equality of opportunity for all women and girls.
Our work includes:
*Educating the national security workforce on women’s meaningful participation in conflict prevention, preservation, and peacekeeping through our curriculum development and teaching at the Department of Defense;
*Ending impunity for sexual violence and human trafficking and helping mothers and their children born of sexual violence to thrive through advocacy, policy and legislation in the U.S. and at the United Nations;
*Amplifying the voices of women and girls in crisis and conflict settings through publications and media;
*Protecting, supporting and healing survivors of religious persecution and other vulnerabilities by reaching across political, religious, national, and ethnic lines.
The American Council on Women Peace and Security is dedicated to advancing women’s meaningful participation in international peace and security and to protecting women and girls in crisis and conflict settings.
The American Council on Women Peace and Security is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and charitable contributions are tax-deductible from the United States.
