The American Council on Women, Peace, and Security (ACWPS) is dedicated to advancing peace and security for women, their families, and communities globally. We focus on promoting human dignity, individual liberty, and equality of opportunity for all women and girls. Our work encompasses a wide range of activities that support the U.S. Women, Peace and Security Act of 2017 and the UN Security Council’s WPS agenda.

Education & Training

ACWPS offers targeted education and training programs for U.S. and international military personnel, Congressional staff, federal agencies, and select clients. Our curriculum covers the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, counter-trafficking, counter-terrorism, religious freedom, among other areas. A key focus of our training is empowering women survivors of sexual violence to narrate their experiences, thereby impacting public policy in their nations. This initiative aligns with our commitment to enhancing peace and security for women, their families, and communities globally.

Scholarship and Policy Analysis

Our council excels in providing expert policy analysis related to the WPS agenda. This encompasses academic research, support for legislation, and profound political and social commentary. With a track record of delivering analysis and testimony to the U.S. Congress, federal agencies, and international organizations such as the UN Security Council, ACWPS is a leading voice in advancing human dignity, liberty, and equality of opportunity for women and girls.

Engagement and Partnerships

ACWPS actively collaborates with coalitions to promote the participation and protection of women in peace and security processes. Our projects, including the Children Born of War Project and Project Amplify, address urgent and emergent issues for women and children in crisis and conflict environments. Through these engagements, we strive to foster a collaborative spirit and share wisdom across various sectors, including policymakers and civil society, to achieve our goals.

Advocacy and Outreach

Through our outreach and advocacy efforts, ACWPS champions the cause of ending impunity for sexual violence and human trafficking. Our members, leaders in their respective fields, utilize speaking and writing opportunities to share their expertise. We also convene roundtable discussions to facilitate dialogue among a diverse range of experts. Our publications and media efforts aim to amplify the voices of women and girls in crisis and conflict settings, shedding light on their struggles and triumphs. Our advocacy is dedicated to influencing policies and legislation that support survivors and their children, envisioning a world where all women and girls can live with dignity and security.
