ACWPS SPEAKS AT THE NAVAL WAR COLLEGE
[2012 - 2024]
The annual Naval War College WPS Symposium has been an important forum for ACWPS research since the forum began in 2012.
At the first NWC Symposium in 2012, Dr. Yoshihara presented her paper examining the way population politics influences global aging and instability. In 2023 ACWPS fellow Dr. Grace Hoffman and Dr. Yoshihara spoke about their work at Defense Security Cooperation University (DSCU) where their team integrated WPS into training, certification, and graduate education. The hallmarks of their approach include close working relationships with the faculty, alignment with U.S. law, understanding of international and partner nation WPS perspectives and mandates, and the highest standards of scholarship. Yoshihara and Hoffman recommended ways to tailor WPS for key war college courses with a view to how NWC faculty can approach Joint Military Operations and National Security Affairs.
At the December 2024 Symposium ACWPS Fellow Peter Tozzi and Dr. Yoshihara present their paper, "God, Sex, and Geopolitics: Strategic Effects of Beijing’s Double Persecution of Women in Xinjiang," which was selected for NWC publication.
